HARD TIMES DON’T REVEAL TRUE FRIENDS

Wait! Don’t look at me in that way. I assure you, I’m not crazy. At least, not yet.😅

Let’s begin!

How many time have you heard these sentences: ” Hard times reveal true friends. “X cares about you, when you needed him, he was there.”

But how many of them were there REALLY at that time?

I believed with all my heart in these sentences. We grew up with this idea, in my opinion, wrong.

In fact, sometimes, I justified any wrong and superficial behavior of this person, because, actually, when I needed her, she was there.

All very nice, but why was there? Above all, how was there?

Years later, thanks to this person, I have discovered that there are many reasons why a friend, or self-styled friend, stands by you in the moment of need.

Here is a short list:

• He has nothing better to do;
• It feeds on your failures, because, in this way, it feels lucky; Feels better;
• He wants to be considered a good , charitable, and perfect person;
• He hasn’t finished using you yet;
• He only has you as a true friend;
• Wants to know your business, then make fun of you with others.

Indeed, one day, when I needed this person, she was no longer by my side. Want to know why?

Because she had new friends; a new reality; a new adventure. Her days were full (However, she found time to go to the disco, or to quibble with her roommate). She no longer spent most of her time between TV series and popcorn. I no longer served her.

Helping a friend doesn’t mean neglecting yourself.

Let me explain: Helping a friend doesn’t mean neglecting yourself. It doesn’t mean putting yourself in second place. But you can’t forget about him, because now your life is shining.

In my opinion, the right questions to ask yourself to recognize a true friend are the following: How many of them are willing to shine less, to give you some of their light? How many of them would share the stage, even for a moment, with you?

In conclusion: A true friend is not seen in times of need, a true friend is always seen.

Next time, when you need help, answer this question sincerely: is my friend by my side because he really wants to help me, or because he has to do so?
